currently classhelp will display a "(list)" link even
if not edit_ok() -- this should probably be changed,
otherwise the check would have to be added manually to
each call of classhelp.
if not edit_ok classhelp should return an empty string.
For backward-compatibility reasons this behavior could
be made optional.
