I cannot sort the list of bugs e.g. for newest activities first.

Test: 
login as user
click on bugs list
try to find the bug with the newest activity.

(I can do it with the complex search page.)

It would be nice, if there is a way to sort columns.

The bottom of the index page is supposed to have a couple of sort boxes 
like the group box.

The code is there but commented out. Look for @sort in 
html/bug.index.html.

Looks like commenting out sort is part of the initial checkin of the 
file.

Simple uncommenting that block seems to make it work like the classic
interface.

Can you try uncommenting the code around the @sort entries and see if 
that works for you?
