Yeah the helper popup is is a problem across a number of templates.
This interaction needs to be redesigned. I tried to do some work on it a
while ago and didn't really get anywhere.
It's a significant usability issue.

2.4.0 has a replacement classhelper. It is only part of the classic template
by default, but the release notes describe how to add it to any tracker.
The one requirement is that the user has access to the REST interface.
