This patch against current HEAD branch (applies to
maint-0-6, too) hides the "Register" link from the web
interface if the anonymous user doesn't have the "Web
Registration" permission.

Any reason you're using <span tal:omit-tag> for the classic
template? Wouldn't tal:condition on the <a href> work just
as well as in the minimal template?

I used omit-tag to get rid of the <br> behind the <a>
container, because I'm always a little bit confused if I see
this:
<a href="foo">bar<br></a>

Is the later correct, too? Then the <span tal:omit-tag>
isn't needed.

Yes, all inline-level HTML elements are legal inside <a>
elements. It may seem a bit weird at first, but it's legal.
I've checked the modified patch into HEAD. Thanks!
