i agree with fu that the batches should be filtered by
item-level permissions.

values and entry fields for disallowed attributes should be
blanked out by html rendering.  or perhaps replaced with
some unavailability indicator, e.g. '<font
color="#ff0000"><strong>N/A</strong></font>'.
