I have setuptools installed for python 2.7 under ubuntu/debian.

I was able to generate a sdist, egg and whl using python2.
The untarred sdist passed a run of pytest with 2.7 and 3.6.
I don't test mysql or postgres, sqlite and anydbm are tested.
